Jim Foote
CO-FOUNDER AND CEO
Jim Foote co-founded First Ascent Biomedical after his son, Trey, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Following eight months of grueling chemotherapy, Trey’s cancer returned, and Jim was told that doctors had given it their best. He researched every option he could find but couldn’t solve the problem in time to save his son. He came away certain that the problem was solvable, and that solving it would take the same combination of technology and systems thinking he’d spent his career applying to complex problems elsewhere.
Jim brings decades of experience solving complex problems with technology, having previously served as VP at ADP and Chief Strategy Officer at CDK Global. He founded First Ascent Biomedical to combine biology and technology in the fight against cancer, and established the Trey Foote Foundation in his son’s honor to advance new treatments and cures for osteosarcoma.
Jim lives his work with the conviction that cancer, like any complex problem, can be solved with the right combination of expertise, technology, and determination.
